Roman Meal Company
The Roman Meal Company is best known for the fine bread products made with whole grains sold under the company's brand. The company is owned by the Matthaei family. Bread has been the Matthaei family's calling since 1686, when they first established their bakery in Marburg, Germany. Henry Matthaei, who had become a master baker in Marburg, moved to Kansas City in 1872 as a young man, where he established a bakery. His son, William, following the family tradition, also became a master baker. Roman Meal Company has grown to partner with more than 90 bakeries in the United States and internationally.
